With National Breastfeeding Month, Black Breastfeeding Week and World Breastfeeding Week, there have been no shortage of brelfies as moms across North America work to "normalize breastfeeding."

While everyone's photos are equally gorgeous, we couldn't help but notice special hashtags attached to some: #tandembreastfeeding or #tandemnursing. This included moms of multiples or moms with a baby and older child who hasn't weaned. And we take our hats off to these fierce mamas for their dedication to breastfeeding not one but two kids. We also thank them for sharing their sweet moments.

Here are some of our favourites:

Awww my heart melts... πŸ˜πŸ’™ I was looking back over photos today and found this. Thought it was the perfect time to share again since we are in #worldbreastfeedingweek. BUT while it's nice to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week I think we should actually be celebrating ALL the mamas and bubbas out there! Breast or bottle ~ a fed baby is a HAPPY baby! I have seen first hand how struggles with breastfeeding can emotionally torment mothers, it's so important that while we do celebrate breastfeeding journeys that we also celebrate mums for ALWAYS trying their best πŸŒŸπŸ’• Those very early days, weeks and months of breastfeeding were REALLY tough. I remember in the first few weeks it just completely ZAPPING me, I could barely function and I felt like it just drained every ounce of energy I had. Sometimes I felt so exhausted and physically and emotionally drained from it I almost felt like I had no love to give 😒😒 It was sooooo hard and I really didn't know how I was going to continue... But I know now looking back it was just my body adjusting ~ hormones, no sleep, giving birth, adjusting to life with 2 babies in it - BIG changes that are sure to knock you around. We eventually found our groove with breastfeeding and although I felt like it really restricted me from ever leaving the house in that first year I was quite emotional, extremely anxious and really sad and scared when Lachie and Samuel self weaned at around 13 months. I was worried we would lose part of 'US' but it's amazing how they have been able to show me love and share our special bond in other ways. Now they come up and cuddle right into me, blow kisses, plant big sloppy ones on my face and wrap their arms around my legs as I walk πŸ˜‹πŸ’™ so much love for this mama. I know breastfeeding is just one journeys we shared and I'm so excited for what others are to come 🌟😍 So while it has been lovely to see all the beautiful breastfeeding pictures this past week I would just like to also say that I think ALL mamas are BEAUTIFUL ~ everyone's journey is different ~ and everyone's journey is special ~ NOT just one week of the year ~ but EVERY week of the year πŸ’•πŸŒŸπŸ˜‹ keep on shining mamas πŸŒŸπŸ™Œ

#tbt 5/19/15 when my #twins were 5 weeks old and despite the sleep deprivation and frequent (every 2-3 hours, 24-7, 45 min at a time) #breastfeeding, I was still getting shit done.  #MarinaAbramovic thinks children hold women back in the art world, but as @dubz19 put so aptly, "FUKKK THAT". All Marina knows is her own experience, and it may be true for her, but that is not everyone's experience nor truth. Becoming a #mom (of twins no less) has personally helped me become a better #artist - I learned to be extremely efficient with my time, prioritize what's important and let go of the rest, and #multitask like a champ.  I learned to function (even if barely) on very little sleep, and out of the chaos, insanity and even torture at times, a flood of new emotions entered into my work, becoming more interesting & layered as a result.  I'm also not saying that artist parents are better artists than non-parent artists, or that choosing not to be a parent will deny you access to these learning experiences.  What I am saying is that parenting is like any other challenge in life - the biggest fucking challenge in my own life thus far - and if you embrace it and figure out creative solutions, you can emerge a better person.  It's important to think about the ways in which these challenges can help you move forward, rather than hold you back.  #artistmom #tandembreastfeeding #multitasking #heinkoh #greenpoint #brooklyn #nyc

Feed Fearlessly πŸ’ͺ🏾 πŸ“Έ @mrs.j.watson ・・・ "This was about a year ago | When I got pregnant with Levi, my ob told me that I had to stop nursing Eva immediately. At first, I was really considering stopping. But my mom told me to just find another doctor. So, I found another ob and he told me the same thing-stop nursing. So, I found ANOTHER ob who supported my decision to nurse Eva while pregnant. I'm so glad I did that. I'm so glad I listened to my mom. I have had a wonderful experience breastfeeding Eva, and now Levi for the past 2.5 years. There have been some very hard days, of course. It's not all smiles and happiness all of the time. But all of the good days outweigh the bad. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I know that we all feed our babies in different ways and that is truly awesome. But in honor of #worldbreastfeedingweek I just wanted to say that I'm thankful to God that I could breastfeed my babies. And shoutout to all the mamas out there who are currently breastfeeding or have breastfed in the past. Whether it was for minutes, hours, days, weeks, or for years. ✌🏾️❀️" . . . . . . . #tandembreastfeeding #breastfeedwithoutfear #BWDCD #BlackWomenDoClothDiaper #BlackMoms #BlackBabies #MelaninMotherhood #Kemet #NaturalHair #NaturalParenting #BlackParents #Love #Babies #ClothDiapers #Melanin #MakeMelaninMainstream #Community #Beautiful #BabiesOfIG #Cutie #BlackPride #Summer #NormalizeBreastfeeding #Breastfeeding #BlackWomenDoBreastfeed #BWDBF #BlackLivesMatter #GoodNight #WorldBreastfeedingWeek
